The triumvirate of Gates, Clinton and Jones to lead Obama’s ‘national security team’ instills great confidence at home and abroad; and, further strengthens the growing respect for the president-elect’s courage and ability to exercise sound judgement in selecting the ‘best and the brightest’ to implement our nation’s security policies.
Sen. Warner refers to former Marine Corps General James Jones, who Obama plans on naming his National Security Advisor, and Bob Gates, who will stay on as Secretary of Defense. Tomorrow President-Elect Obama will name Sen. Hillary Clinton as his choice for Secretary of State.
Also, AZ Gov. Janet Napolitano will be named Secretary of Homeland Security and former Navy Admiral Dennis Blair reportedly will be asked to serve as the next Director of National Intelligence. Susan Rice, Obama’s Senior Foreign Policy Advisor and a former Asst. Secretary of State for African Affairs, is likely to be tapped as U.N. Ambassador.
