I was giving out candy at a parade for my school’s homecoming. I am a sponsor of the Young Democrats club at the school. I was wearing my Obama t-shirt and doling out candy to the on lookers. Some people were telling their kids not to take candy from me because I supported Obama and I might have “tainted” the candy.
Conservatives are just upset. They’re going to get their butt handed to them on all levels. So they take it out on anyone including children. That’s compassion for you!
Chris Guy – What I think is that there are 300 million people in the country. A fair percentage have emotional problems. After driving on our nation’s roads for 35 + years, it has become pretty obvious to me just how rude people can be.
Given how much Democrats have fouled up the country, most people are in fact surprisingly well behaved. I suggest you look in your history books. For a lot less than what Democrats have done and propose to do this nation, people have started wars. However, for the sake of peace and the future our children, even if Obama wins, the vast majority of Conservatives will grit their teeth and hope that the idiots that vote for socialism will finally figure out it does not and CANNOT be made to work.
Kevin – You wore your Obama t-shirt to send a message. It only makes sense that people who disagree with your message will not want to associate themselves with it.
BTW Citizen Tom, it was a FOX station in Detroit that covered the story (not a hotbed of lefty journalism). And it’s the November sweeps. Granny was great TV!
No I wore an Obama T-shirt because I was a part of the parade. I guess you could say the marching band, the Heavy Metal club, and Environmental Awareness club were also sending messages too. We should be celebrating the fact that students at the school are politically aware and care enough to go out in the parade with a float.
See the problem, Tom, is that I bear no ill will to most conservatives. Unfortunately, those particular conservatives are sending a message to their children that liberals are evil…even if they are passing out candy at a parade just like everyone else in the parade.
I guess it makes some conservatives to feel better about themselves to reject benign gestures. Like I said, some conservatives are bitter and angry this year because they are going to be a minority party in this country at the national level for the first time in 15 years. I would be upset too. It’s unfortunate that their kids are collateral damage.
“Given how much Democrats have fouled up the country”
It’s conservatives like you and Jeff Frederick that make me smile. Continue to put your head in the sand. We’ll keep you in the minority nationally for the next 20 years. We’ll also take control of both houses and the governorship in VA next year.
I can tell you, that in Caroline County, the VAST Majority of people asked if I was an Obama supporter when they knocked on my door (What, the 2 signs in the yard and one in the windows didn’t confirm that? hehe) and gave me hugs and handshakes as I passed out candy.
But here is where it’s interesting… My wife, walking with the kids, stopped to fix a McCain/Palin sign that someone had knocked over and stepped on. She picked it up, brushed it off and stuck in back in place.
To those such as McCain Grannie and Kevin’s “No Candy” mama and even Citizen Tom…
As much as I despise McCain, if someone who’s a McCain Supporter shows up to my house with his or her kids, I’d still give them candy.
I think it’s time to either bring back “tricks” for retaliation. I think that bitch’s car being egged and her pumpkins smashed would do her some good.
If I lived there, I’d post a sign on her front lawn warning parents that that woman is a child molester, so parents can keep their kids away from her house.

I sure hope she woke up Saturday morning to home covered in eggs and toilet paper.
You don’t think some Obama supporters have not been silly enough to do the same sort of thing? How naive!
Why was this even worth the press coverage?
You actually think denying a 4 year-old candy for her beliefs is a common occurence? Wow.

I would have had a hard time not getting arrested if I went to that ladies house…
I hope she tries the same b.s. next year and 1000 people dressed in Obama costumes surround her house.
Of course the simple solution would be to just set up shop on the sidewalk in front of her house and give out better candy TO ALL.

Would you have done the same for my Obama sign?
I didn’t think so.
