I know it’s hard to keep up with the McCain campaign lies nowadays. But this one is one of the oldest: That Obama will raise your taxes. That’s true, he will….if you make more than $600k a year. The McCain campaign claims everyone making more than $42k a year will recieve a tax-hike under the Obama plan. The Washington Post* sets the record straight.
*The same “liberal” “left-wing” newspaper that endorsed Tom Davis, Frank Wolf, Bob Ehrlich, and Jeannemarie Devolites Davis in recent years (that’s just off the top of my head).

I love your site. Having been for decades a staunch Republican (and an ordained minister) I know how they think and process information. My career took me outside our borders and across four continents lasting 30 years. Now I’m home permanently and it’s as if I landed on a different planet.
The events of recent days has left, even me, astonished at how blindly some will follow without benefit of thinking for themselves. Just as Senator Obama has said, “You just can’t make this stuff up”.
The graph you have on this post…is one that I’d sent to my entire extended family. They were shocked at the obvious misrepresentation by the RNC.
I did a post a week or so back titled…An Interesting “Vetting” Comparison. This had 100’s of hits within only a few hours of being posted…yet, very few comments. Thanks to the “stats” we have through ‘wordpress’ I was able to see who was reading this. It appears we may have more “closet” Democrats that one may think.
Thanks for creating such a great site. I plan on visiting often.

Obama’s tax plan is far more fair than McCain’s, of course. But he leaves himself open to charges of “tax-raiser” since his budgetary numbers don’t add up. How do you drop taxes on 95% of taxpayers, introduce a raft of costly (though desirable) programs and cut the deficit in half in four years?
I understand McCain’s plan doesn’t add up either, but it would be nice if some candidate were honest about financing the federal government.
Meanwhile, the limitless, largely misleading charges being thrown at Palin are helping the GOP cast the election along tribal lines, to their great benefit. It would be astonishing if they retained the White House, given economic conditions, but that’s where this appears to be headed right now.
Just accept that McCain made a good move and shift the camera to the economy and tax reform.
I found this graph to be better, as it adds scale to population:
