Pres. Bush in Stafford County for Economic Address

UPDATE #4:  (2:00 p.m.) Elvis has left the building.  Elvis has left the building.  (It is now safe to drive I-95.)

It is reported that he told the private audience that he’ll veto any tax increase.  (WHOA!  That’s news!)

UPDATE #3: (8:45 a.m.) Where’s “The Dean of Washington Traffic” Bob Marbourg when we need him most?

If you have a midday meeting, let’s say somewhere between I-95 Exits 130 and 143, you may wish to leave for it NOW.

The White House advance team has already arrived at Stafford Regional Airport and we should expect that the route between Centreport Pkwy. and Yakadoos on Warrenton Rd. will be shut down for the presidential motorcade.

rudy-in-a-dress.jpgUPDATE#2: – Friday A.M.: We’ve just been reminded that one day after Arbusto visits Yakadoos, on the same stage will be the Cat’s Meow Cabaret drag-show. Too bad the Decider decided on a Monday visit.  He’ll miss a great show! But, this leaves us wondering; will Mme. Guiliani be performing live Tuesday night?

UPDATE #1: In its Friday, Dec. 14 edition, the FL-S reports that the President will be appearing at Yakadoos at the Holiday Inn. Doesn’t Yakadoos double as a comedy club? Will there be no cover, but a 2-drink minimum?

(And, isn’t it ironic.  Don’t ya think?)george-w-bush.jpg

Late today, the White House announced that on Monday President Bush will be in Stafford County, to address members of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Stafford Rotary Club. Subject? The Economy. The address will take place at the Holiday Inn in Falmouth.  It is not open to the public.

No official word if The Decider is bringing along his beloved feather pillow.

But seriously, Mr. President, before you arrive to give your speech, please consider the economic realities of Stafford County

While our unemployment rate is below 2 percent, economic conditions, even in this, the 13th wealthiest community in the United States, are not so great.  Each year, the average Stafford resident takes home less, and borrows more on credit cards.

Healthcare is a big reason.  Take prescription medicine co-pays; around here they have gone up 50 PERCENT OR MORE.  And that’s just in the past year.

foreclosure.jpgAnd for your information, sir, Stafford County is experiencing historic levels of home foreclosure.  Those million dollar no-money-down home loans you loved so much?  Well, the chickens have come home to roost.

But from the man who financed his war by cutting taxes, we shouldn’t expect much more than empty rhetoric.  That’s because you are running up a tab that our kids kids will be stuck paying.

Maybe you could discuss that.

  1. Check out this video of Pat Robertson’s presidential candidate of choice:

  2. Talk about a “DRAG”

Bush on the economy or Cat’s Meow

Wonder if W will remind the friendly group that each American citizen currently owes $30,196 to cover the budget deficit, that a record number of homeowners face default, and that the inflation rate has jumped to its highest since 2005-due primarily to exorbitant fuel prices. My guess is Monday will be all “happy”talk, and nice photo ops.

  3. Yakadoos? The Route 17 Holiday Inn? Poor George — he used to play in bigger and better houses!

  4. If Bush is telling everyone that the economy is fine…better take cover. We’ve heard the “heck of a job” kudos before.

Washington Times via Associated Press offers interesting details of the venue including this tidbit

“After the meeting began with the normal business routine of the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer, Bush was introduced as the guest speaker. Yet even that was a bit hard to hear, because someone forgot to turn off the Christmas music for a couple minutes. It did not resume again until the president finished speaking and taking questions from the crowd. He headed out of the room to the tune of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”"

  5. Bush came to Stafford because it has proven to be sooooooo RED- it is safe ground for him (plus it’s not too far from DC). Was anyone protesting?

  6. Patty, don’t know if anyone was protesting…although it would have been great if protestors included performers from the CAT’S MEOW CABARET!

  7. [...] So, as a publc service to Speaker Bill Howell and the rest of the Old Dominion delegation, here’s some great places for you to go – after the gay-bashing speeches have concluded - to get in touch with your inner-tranny: [...]
